HEART & CARDIAC ARREST.

BY REQUEST,

I HAVE PUT TOGETHER ANOTHER DIVERSE TRAINING

DVD FOR A LOT LESS COST.

Is Your Heart A Ticking Time Bomb?

According to NFPA statistics, 89 firefighters died while on duty in 2006.

And what was the number one cause?

You guessed it,

Sudden Cardiac Death.

It is a shock to think that we ourselves might be the biggest risk and most dangerous hazard we face on the job.

But after reviewing the statistics provided by the U.S. Fire Administration,

it becomes apparent that on the front lines of firefighting,

we are our own worst enemy.

It is a grim picture.

More and more firefighters are dying because of cardiac problems. According

to the USFA, heart attacks are the leading cause of death while on duty,

surpassing deaths due to burns, asphyxiation and trauma.

The good news is,

death from cardiac related problems is at its lowest point in the 30 year history

of the NFPA study.

We've done a lot over the years to reduce cardiac deaths,

but I believe there is one more step we must take to knock it out of its

number one spot for good.

AS A FIREFIGHTER, I'VE SEEN MY SHARE OF THE IMPACT OF SUDDEN CARDIAC ARREST, THIS IS WHY I CREATED THIS DVD FOR ALL DEPARTMENTS; A MUST HAVE TOOL, BECAUSE KNOWLEDGE OF THE HEART AND ALL THAT CAN GO WRONG WITH IT,

IS VITAL TO SURVIVAL

A SMALL HISTORY: The number one killer in America is cardiovascular disease. In 1991, heart and blood vessel diseases killed more than 923,000 Americans. More than two of every five Americans die of cardiovascular disease. Today, more than one in five Americans suffer from some form of cardiovascular disease, with more than 2,500 Americans dying from it each day. Of those with heart disease, 52.2 percent are male and 47.8 percent are female; 88.2 percent are white, 9.5 percent are black, and 2.4 percent are of other races. Clearly, heart disease is a national concern.

Of thirty-five countries surveyed in 1991, the United States cardiovascular death rate ranked 17th for both males and females. The highest death rates were in the Soviet Union, Romania, Poland, Bulgaria, Hungary, and Czechoslovakia. The lowest were in Japan, France, Spain, Switzerland, and Canada.
